Vine House Farm

where wildlife really matters

Wild Bird Food direct from the farm:

Vine House farm is a bird food company with a big difference: much of the bird seed it supplies is also grown on its conseravtion award winning farm. Based in Lincolnshire, they offer a wide range of garden bird food, feeders and accessories which are available through their website and brochure.

The Watts family, who own and run Vine House Farm, started selling wild bird seed because people asked if they could buy what they were feeding in their farm yard on open days. Since then, Vine House Farm has become one of the leading bird food suppliers in the UK – and certainly the one with the best environmental credentials.

The aim of Vine House Farm has always been to provide garden birds with the very best quality of food, produced and grown, where possible, on their environmentally friendly farm. The seeds grown on the farm include: black sunflower, red millet, white millet, canary seed, naked oats, rape seed and wheat. Other foods are sourced as locally as possible but still come to the customer direct, so the overall benefit of this ‘direct from the farm’ offer is a reduced carbon footprint.

The farm not only grows seed for birds, but also many human consumption crops and this has led to numerous national awards for the conservation measures that have been implemented on the farm.

Over the years Nicholas Watts has carried out countless measures to enhance the environment and subtly adapt the way the farm is managed to be wildlife friendly, including: providing nesting habitat for Barn Owls, enhancing dykes and field boundaries, planting spinneys and digging wildlife ponds. All these measures have enabled Nicholas to increase or stabilise a number of farmland bird species locally.
