Dawn Chorus walk at West Boldon Lodge

South Tyneside Council

West Boldon Lodge, Newcastle Road

By getting up incredibly early for this short stroll you will be rewarded with the uplifting sounds of an early summer’s dawn in the ‘Vale of Don’. Our resident songsters such as blackbirds, robins and wrens will have been joined by visitors from Africa such as whitethroats, willow warblers, chiff-chaffs and, hopefully, sedge warblers. Local bird expert Len Charles-New will be on hand to tell us all about them. You may be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to tell the birds apart by their song and even if you can’t they are still a delight to experience. Wrap up warm and bring binoculars if you have them. This is a South Tyneside Council Countryside Team Event. Booking is essential for this event as numbers are limited.
