Dawn Chorus at Rabbit Ings

Groundwork Dearne Valley

Rabbit Ings, Lundhill Lane, Royston, Barnsley

This is the first event of its type at this newly created site which was once the former Monckton Colliery spoil heap. Organised by Mick Birkinshaw who works for Groundwork Dearne Valley and is the Rabbit Ings Project Officer. The walk will be led by John Baxter former Ranger of Bretton Country Park and just retired from Anglers Country Park, both sites and Rabbit Ings are in the ownership of Wakefield Metroplolitan District Council. John is a very knowledgable ornithologist after many years of following his passion through his work as a Countryside Ranger.

You'll have to be up with the larks for this event, but early birds will be rewarded with more than just worms! Join us for a guided dawn chorus walk around Wyming Brook, and hear the different bird species in the wonderful cacophony of the srping-time dawn chorus.
